Experience

2023-Present

Senior Patient Care Tech

Community Heart Vascular Hospital

My current job role is within in Community Health Network and I deliver direct patient care. I partner with registered nurses, patient care coordinators, and other clinical staff to care for patients. Some tasks I'm responsible for are charting vitals, input/outputs, daily movements, and surgery requirements.

This ongoing working experience teaches me how important it is to know the clinical side of healthcare and how it operates. Also, diversity matters and is noticeable when it is a facade. This knowledge will help me pick my workplace environment wisely when starting my profession.

2022-2023

Patient Service Representative

Community Health Network

Carmel Health Pavillion

During this work experience, I worked as part-time front office staff for two internal family medicine and one pediatrics physician practice. One of the internal family medicine suites was Mandarin speaking only, which exposed me to a new culture and translation services. Most of my tasks consisted of scheduling appointments, creating/editing patient charts, building providers' schedules, conversing with drug representatives, transferring calls to correct lines, and handling protected patient information.

I gained skills in using the Health IT system Epic and daily front office operations. Such as faxing, emailing, and printing certain health information or required patient documentation. Also, I became more aware of how to verify health insurance, medical billing, and medical diagnosis codes.

Experience

Summer 2023

Cancer Support Community Indiana

Development & Fundraising Intern

Over this past summer, I had the opportunity to intern with Cancer Support Community Indiana. Which Is located by Pike highschool and their mission is to provide support for survivors or anyone who is battling cancer including family. CSC provides resources for cancer information, online health classes, therapy, and stress-relieving hobbies. Such as yoga, art studio, or sitting in the backyard designed garden.

In this role, I participated in running their annual Laughing Matters Event, where a comedian did a show and a live auction took place. I assisted in setup/tear down, setting up the auction website to bid, and after-event clean up. I truly got a chance to see and feel how it is working with a team that worked together to achieve the same goals.
